You’ll be ok around yard but slow. On site with gradients and turning I wouldn’t bother, especially as you want ‘low impact’!

Low impact isn't top priority, getting the wood out of the stand without huge investment is, already have the digger so was just really after finding out who's using what with their diggers

There's an old boy I know, really good on all machinery (both driving and fixing them), he always goes on about tracked excavators are built for digging holes, not for driving about, you'll wear out the drivetrain etc etc.

He will load his digger onto the trailer to move it more than about 100yds! If you said to him you were going to tow a trailer I think he would have a heart attack :laugh1:

He also has an SMC rubber duck, handy for running about on, hopeless off road.

Back to trailers, have a look at TCF Egineering

Heavy Duty ATV Timber Trailer with a Gross weight of 1250kgs is ideal for a larger Quad, UTV or Compact Tractor.

I've been quite impressed by the versatility of rubber duck's, there was a channel on youtube by duckgirl but she hasn't posted anything for 3 years.

I wondered if one around the 6-8 tonne mark might be handy in the woods, even pulling a trailer.

I'd buy or hire in a flatbed tracked dumper. Add some pins. Load it in the woods, tip in a windrow where you want it and tidy up with digger if neccessary.

You'll get a lot more done.

Alternatively- have you considered just skidding whole trees with the digger? You can move a surprising amount with a 2.6t particularly if working with a gradient. Makes it quick and easy- track to tree, use digger to assist the fell and then reverse back with tree to processing area.

All this assumes you have a proper fixed (not swinging)  grab and rotator though.
