Have you had your first fire yet?

I'm looking for an inline fan system to divert some of the heat from the kitchen to the front of the house; lounge. Which often has its door closed, so doesn't benefit from the warm air moving through.

I remember @openspaceman has posted photos before of a similar thing he'd done.

Crikey, definitely in the minority here. I should probably stop being so tight and get the fire going 🤣

Me too - but been so warm here in Essex that I’m still out in a shirt in the evenings and wish I’d had shorts on for grass cutting today - was roasting!

Yes  mine is a 100W 150mm ventaxia steel centrifugal inline fan with a few speeds, I only use the lowest. This sucks hot air from the convection vents of the morso s11 through two home made aluminium manifolds and  50mm flexible exhaust pipes and through a hole in the wall then vents 30C warm air  into the room 3 metres away at floor level.

We did not use gas for space heating last year as a result but burned about 8m3 stack of mixed wood.

Not sure it really counts but I keep thinking we had our first fire in mid summer when a hollow Poplar trunk took hold while sectioning down, put that out asap with a hose though!

Snap! I was especially impressed considering the pissing rain. Put about ten watering cans down it and left, still not really caring if it burned down the surrounding slum.

Thank you all. That's quite the setup @openspaceman I'm not looking to go down the direct from stove route, but the principle should be the same.

Looking to vent from the ceiling in front of the stove, using the inline fan to move the air via aluminium ducting to the lounge. It's only one room over via the loft, but a few rooms over for air travelling down the hall. It wont give me near the 30c your getting. But it will move wasted warm air to where it's more needed. * Might also stop the choc biscuits melting in the kitchen cupboards too 😉

I can't seem to find a system to do this without getting into silly money. So i think it might be easier to adapt a kitchen inline extractor or just put a system together (ceiling intake, inline fan, alu ducting, ceiling vent).

Heat transfer ducting and pumps seem more common in France - go on holiday and bring back some ducting!

Or, I found this:

How the Recoheat stove heat recovery accessory works to maximise your stove's output and warm your home

Their claims seem optimistic (half the fuel for twice the heat output) but there might be something in it... (I've never used one, I have eco fans, and two very hot rooms and plenty of cold ones!)

Holiday? Chance would be a fine thing.

I'll look on Ebay, gather the bits nice and cheap on there. Or at a push, B&Q ;)

Except it will mean moving much more lower temperature air, I tried this initially and it didn't warm the other room noticeably.

It should work if the duct is well insulated, I guess it would best be incorporated into a Mechanical Whole House Ventilation System  but my house is probably not airtight enough for that.

My little fan was about 60 quid and ducting is cheap enough as are plastic grills.
