Better to atleast try and fail and get a bit dirty than call daddy or the AA.

It's not exactly an EOD, providing he doesn't drop the car on the ground what's the worst that can happen.

He'll, I'd even prefer he watched a couple of YouTube videos first and gave it a try than sit there like a lemon.

Yea , maybe but I bet you could change a wheel at that age Mick 🙂

Maybe, years ago things broke more often, tyres, bulbs, batteries, you had to have some mechanical savvy just to get to work. These days cars are so reliable that kids don’t bother/need to perform basic maintenance.

I would either have helped or driven past without a backward glance, I don’t see the rationale for knowingly leaving the old bird with an oxygen mask sit there while the kid struggled.

The old bird would be breathing the 02 whatever the situation and he did help in the best way I think . Unless the old bird was about to run out of 02 then I think ( just me ) that the best possible outcome was achieved ( apart from the dad finishing off )  Now the lad can sort it himself . After all someone must have taught you .

And that is not a "  wrong  " thing to do , at all , but , what happens the next time the young lad gets a flat out in the middle of the back of beyond , all on his jack jones ?

What, in the dark, all alone with an owl!

It's a bleedin flat tyre. I couldn't sit there watching someone struggle when in five minutes with a bit of help they could be on the way.

I've had to change a flat tyre maybe twice within the last 30 years, next time if its pissing down and I'm in no rush I will just call the rac.

It's not as life changing event or some special life lesson.

Reckon I'd be too embarrassed to call the 4th emergency service out for a flat tyre

Why not if it's a service that you are paying for?

Tbh I probably wouldn't bother to call them out myself as I would just sort it out but there is no shame in using a service that you pay for at all.

I don't doubt that some sad fckers would drive past giggling and posting a video to youtube but who really cares and what difference does it mean in the grand scheme of things. No one and nothing.

My thinking was along the lines of my old man turning in his grave!

And thinking about it, I'd rather not wait hours for something I could do in 10mins but each to their own

That's why I would probably do it myself but it's easy to see why other people wouldn't bother getting dirty if they didn't need to and they have already paid for that service.
