How about using repurposed aluminium sheeting for the shower walls? E.g. stuff from an old caravan if anyone nearby is scrapping one. There was someone on here recently enquiring about breaking a caravan for scrap and parts.
That's a good shout. Wonder if I can find a scrap Caravan anywhere nearby.

The best finish for a wooden bowl to be used as a sink would be either Rustins 2 pack ..a liquid melamine or one of the boat building resins such as the West system stuff ..there are also many others ...

Aluminium would need to be hard anodised, my fear would be electrolytic corrosion around fasteners when it gets wet with soapy water.

The great thing about galvanised roofing sheet with zinc plated screws everything would be the same corrosion potential. I think it would last ok, especially if you take care to paint the cuts and holes to prevent water getting at the bare steel on the edges. Ideally don't let the zinc touch the stainless shower tray.

Obviously the ideal will be to get the thing dried out as soon as your shower is finished, won't corrode when it's dry.

What do you think will happen if the zinc touches the stainless?
Not going to be am everyday shower so sure it will be fine.

You're probably right if you don't leave it wet that much not a huge problem, it's just that your soapy water has the potential to be conductive so you can get much faster corrosion from the pair of metals effectively forming a small battery.

Pairing zinc with stainless leads to the zinc being corroded away, so ideally use stainless screws if you have to screw the tray down and you might find the bottom edge of the galvanised sheets rust out faster by being in contact with the stainless.

Collected the shower tray today. That will just be glued to the sub floor.
I was going to overlap the sheets down the tray a bit and put a bead of sealant between. That should be enough to keep them apart right? 20220331_133239.jpeg20220331_133231.jpeg

In the past I've had some very nice brushed stainless steel thin sheet recovered from old redundant farm bulk milk tank [emoji3]
Decent scrap is hard to come by at the minute.
