Efco have been around a good while.

Think it was a 936 (small cc's) I fixed up,  lots of plastic,  it had hung together until the piston ring had worn out. Bar mount plastic was pretty sore by then but bar and chain were also fubarred, short on maintenance, high on abuse sort-a-thing.

I think I would have one over an MS180 . I did buy one second hand many years ago when Spud had my 346xp in for porting .  Around 45cc . It was just a stop gap till I got the Husky back but I was quite surprised at how well it performed . Sold it about a month later for more than I paid so win win .

Vibrations  high for a smalls saw ?

 

Are decent springs expensive or is it something else with the engines that makes  cheap saws have worse vibs?

There is a bloke on Ebay ( somewhere in Preston Lancs ) selling ex demo Efco saws . For example  - a current 51cc saw for £175 . The pics look like new but he does say ex demo .

The little Stigas are not too bad,a lad who helped me couple times had one,38cc i think and about £160,seemed to go quite well

A friend of mine who took up gardening as a full time job to keep fit after early retirement bought Efco stuff, and although it's very plastic to be fair for the price it hasn't broken yet even though he's totally cack- handed and previously manage to feck a pile of Ryobi stuff which was in the same price range.

Not sure if that means he's learnt something [ which I doubt ] or Efco gear is better🙄FWIW

For me personally, I use McCulloch chainsaws, for a cheap saw I have found them to be really reliable, use them for firewood mainly.

not had a efco chain saw but had a long reach hedge cutter and took it back after half a hour use it was a real pain to use totally unbalanced and i have a hand held blower that i needed a fast replacement still got it but not that impressed i found the price was the lower end of the big brands but top of the cheaper brands  would not buy another efco tool
