Just been on the roof and the temperature of the chimney pot is 7 degrees, so the efficiency of the Rumford is 500/7 x 100 or about 7000%.  I am only following the science just like Boris and I am sure it is just as accurate!

Would that not be 7/500 = 0.014 x 100 = 1.4

 

So 100 - 1.4 = 98.6%

 

Mind you TEMPERATURE is entirely different to heat.. Think of this, to heat the surface of a material with a very low specific heat capacity that was a good insulator to 500 degrees, would take very little heat, but to warm up the entire brickwork of your house to 7 degrees [from nothing] would take an awful lot of heat [for not a lot of temperature change]

 

Still, beats the heck out of having an insulated flue and having 500 degree flue gasses, [and a toasty warm sky!]

Can you see the videos and if so can you explain why Stubby cannot see them?
