unusal set up, can’t see it being useful myself but as a service to home owners it could work.

I wonder if it’s a proper build or a home brew bodge job 🤔 @Pete B this a factory job?

Yup, factory fitted with chassis cab supplied by a local authority.  It was for a booked system of curbside reduction with chips/shreds left for homeowners.  The system was working well, right up until that LA decided to give everyone a brown bin FOC for garden waste without consulting the division  concerned. I think we did 3, maybe 4, but it died overnight once the bins took the waste.....

I thought it looked it was built for a particular purpose, good idea but I don’t think it’s a commercially viable concept in he open market, the world and his wife have brown bins now

This was curbside recycling.  Not curbside collection/transport. It worked well enough for those that cared and was a realistic solution. The business case did evolve to include a payment system which did take some chipped or shredded waste out of the landfill for it to remain at source. But died overnight.....

I had thought of building something like this to hire out with operator several years ago.
The idea was to have the chipper on a turntable then blow into a trailer towed by the chipper truck.

I can really see that or something like it being a very good venture at the moment and even better with either a winch or a crane or event both,
