I recently bought a second hand Hoyt recurve bow, there is actually some really decent kit out there that isn't expensive if you know where to look - and brands like Samick and Bear Archery make respectable recurves for lower 3 figure prices, a little over 100 will sometimes get you a very good beginner's bow. Tenterden has an archery club apparently

The 26lb bow will be perfect.

I have 30lb bow , 40lb, and 60lb . 40 is gets the most use. Good you can go to 42lb if required

30 will kill most beasts

I know a good woodland school in Sussex who do week long classes in bow and arrow making in the woods [emoji106]

I've made a couple, mostly been on crossbows over the past few years, made a lovely longbow from hazel, no photo though. This is a short bow experiment in scotch broom I haven't finished tinkering with yet.

Watched an interesting documentary on the development of the recurve bow.
How it took thousands of years of constantly evolving designs.
Then using modern science to work out the most effective use of the leverage of the arms etc.
They discovered there is a Goldilocks zone of leverage power just each side of the handle, the risers are just there for length.
Then archaeologists discovered a bow thousands of years old, just like the one they’d just designed.

Great fun after work, 2 in the gold from 10 yards!

Kit seems brilliant, and Connie Hood is well chuffed with her starter kit.

An archery club could be useful although I've never been to one except in my role as a scout leader.
