In France you can get a license to hunt with a bow.
When I was young a mate used to go bow hunting. Tiny Breton about 5’1”. His compound bow had a 45kg draw…
****ing mental bit of kit.
Absolutely vein popping to get it to pull back.
He wouldn’t let me fire an arrow though as he said we’d never see it again…

Good thing about a compound bow is once its drawn there is no weight to hold. Sounds like a legal bow though.

Merlin seem excellent.

I’ll talk to them and put together a basic set up.

Although I’m a short arse I have a span of 6’1”, so draw length 29”?

Hopefully they can sort a recurve out with 25lb draw that I can upgrade the limbs on as necessary.

Thanks for the input fellas, much appreciated.

Thanks, I was imagining smaller stuff, had no idea these bows could take something like that.

A good bow and decent hunting arrow will take down most things. In the right hands of course and those hands aren't mine.

Yup, if I had to rely upon my bow for food I’d be pretty hungry a lot of the time!

Be good to see a photo of your bows to get an idea what they're like...

One is a handmade one peice laminate jobby I bought from a new age traveller at age 15. Signed by the maker- "the crested flamingo' is the model I think. 35lbs

The other is a standard modern take down recurve, I think the limbs are 60lbs. I'll have to get them down from the rafters at the yard!
