Digger auxiliary supplies for rotating grab

Problem: Present digger has one auxiliary supply (right foot pedal), considering a rotating grab; this present supply will operate ‘grab’ well, however I need another aux supply to rotate.

Thought: Never used the left foot control (turns arm left or right; not the whole thing).

Question: Has anyone disconnected and blanked off said ram and re-piped to front of arm to create a new aux?

Thanks for input chaps.

Digger - KX030-4

diverter - don't want to do all that if it can be avoided, I understand what you say but it seems there's a perfectly good unused left pedal there..

solid bar - quite possibly, but I'd like to cap the ram first, I suspect it'd be ok with no air bubbles, not a problem anyway.

flow restrictor - not needed for clamping

1-3 Tonne Bear Claw Excavator Forestry Grab - BC85 The Bear Claw forestry grabs are engineered specifically for the UK...

But the question is, has anyone done this, that is, is my plan feasible?

Much cheaper and easier to fit a diverter. Tap into the offset pipe work, even with actual hydraulic taps if electricity isn’t your thing.

You have to run the pipe work down the boom anyway. So terminate it by using a t and a tap into each side of the offset ram.

those grabs don’t look great, tiger grip get good reviews for Arb work and are not too pricey.

Mate did it with my old 8 toner, never put in a restrictor and the grabs like a helicopter!

Diverter valve is what you need.  Just so happens I have 1 sitting doing nothing, I used it on my Cat but my New Bobcat has twin Aux.

  I used mine in a 2.7t machine

it comes with foot pedal that plugs into cigarette lighter.  If you are interested drop me a messsge.

This is one of the best ways to be get yourself another set of auxiliary pipework, with the added benefit it’s usually fairly low flow and quite suited to a rotators needs without messing with restrictors.

The hassle to take the ram off and replace with a suitable bar is probably effort better utilised to make a nice job of the pipework.

This is a 6 way changeover setup and is switched continuously from boom offset to your new auxiliary circuit, and will give a much better user experience than the momentary changeover from grab to rotate functions which is the other popular solution.

You’d be well advised if you buy a fixed top grab to ensure it can be retrofitted with the rotator at a later date.

DM if you want a price on an Intermercato setup and 6 way valves are very inexpensive.

Eddie.
