Hi

Do any of you guys use a  ash vaccum cleaner to clean your stoves? I'm thinking of getting one but not sure what one to get.

Don't want a thing big really.

Thanks

Josh

i just empty the ash pan and maybe the odd bit of ash off the grate if i want to really clean it out use the brush and shovel then what's left use the house vacuum

That's basically what I do  now but you get loads  more ash when using smokeless, which I do to keep it in over night or when I'm running low of wood.

My problem with that is in the winter, when I use smokeless, the ashes don't get chance to cool down, I suspect that an ash vacuum has plastic parts which might not like hot ashes going past them?

Probably lol. Best stick with my current method. Was trying to cut the dust down a bit but probably just have to live with it. I've managed all these years so far 🤣

I bought one. It was great for the first few seconds, then the filter was blocked. Unblocked the filter then it was great again. Go back to the start and repeat as many times as you like! I gave up on it and it has gone to the tip

Found the same thing as headgroundsman. Was given an ash hoover as part of the maintenance kit for a biomass boiler I was looking after, unbranded but it looked like R2D2. Think I got 1 minute of use for every 20 minutes of cleaning the thing. It burned out and wasn't replaced.

I recently bought a Russell Hobbs Titan 2 as I didn't want to keep filling the bags on our house one and our grate is wider than the pan so you get lots spill down the side and there's no other easy way to get it out ..... it's been great for the 8 odd times I've used it so far but I'm only cleaning out a small amount compared to cleaning the whole stove.
