Got this on a Tesco special today. IMG_4029.jpg

Talisker gives me a two day hangover. I have the same bottle. I really enjoy that dram, I just cant take the day after.

This is my all time favourite. It was a gift from a mate, its a pokey , lively whisky with heaps of character and a strong lingering finnish.I wish I could find another bottle.

It’s a wee cracker and at £30 a bottle well worth a lazy Sunday the day after. 🤣

Im meant to start my Beech Workbench tomorrow, we’ll see. 😁

The Beech is the first log I milled 5-6 years ago. So nice and dry and a bit spalted.

I visited many a distillery when I was a kid.  My old man would take us fly fishing on the Scottish rivers.  As it was a family holiday my dad and uncle would take the family out for a couple of days.  Usually on the whiskey trail.  There are a few bottles back at my old mans place.

I have always had a kind of nostalgic, romance with single malts from the above mentioned trips.

In reality, I get the worst hangover from even the smallest amounts.  Which is strange as other spirits don’t have the same effect.

Regarding the hangover. Fusel alcohols are a huge contributor to your hangover. Neutral spirits such as Vodka and Aquavit (since you’re in Norway 😁 ) have little to no fusel alcohol (oils) hence the less severe hangover. The more flavourful the Spirit the more heads and tails are kept during the distillation process to retain the flavour of the ingredients. In this case the Malt and the Peat.

Everythings a trade off. 🤣

I often wondered why.

I do know that if I have a couple of shots, I will have a pounding headache and be as mobile as a dog with one paw the next day.
