Interesting interview with Ray Mears here. One of my personal heroes.

The naturalist has written a new book in lockdown which sets out how we can rewild ourselves, not just nature

Thank You @sime42     A good article.

A chap I must admit I didn't have a lot of time for when he first arrived, but he does seem to be a chap that I think would be an interesting conversation at a BBQ/dinner/whatever.

He converted me in his 10 minute slots in “Country Tracks”.
I go to his website to see what gear he recommends and then order it cheaper from elsewhere.
I went on one of his courses in the Lakes and managed to make fire with friction emoji106.png

Did you notice the burger van that follows him around ?  He is , how can I put it , " well covered " .  He sits by a lake in the middle of nowhere and manages to catch a fish about3 inches long and says that will sustain him until morning .  Ok ...😁

Seems like I'm not his only fan on here, great to be in good company.
I must admit that he went down slightly in my estimation when I saw the prices of gear that he merchandises, daylight robbery some of it!

When I was in my 20s and went on my first trip to the lakes, I had a pair of Dockers on my feet and a rubber Mac. I then started to gather gear, then more gear then more gear but now, in most part, thanks to him, I camp out in just a bivvy bag with minimalist equipment.
Looks like we could start a Bushcraft discussion.

I've only been brave enough a couple of times.to tough it out with only a bivvy bag. Very liberating though.
