Just re all the comments about the cheap chain.

When I took the pic that had done about 30 ibc's of hardwood and 30 ibc's of semi dirty softwood. Its not been sharpened at all. It has been re tensioned twice.

That a rotatech chain then? If it works for you then thats good, i’ve only experienced the use of them in 12”, 14” and 16” form, they are alright but have found them aggressive at times straight off, they stretch a little but all new chains do, the thing for me was not being able to file everything evenly as some teeth were untouchable with the file, no doubt if you used a grinder then this issue would be irrelevant, but i havent bought a grinder (yet, still pondering, the granberg took my eye, and have access to one when needed, but still undecided) each and to their own as they say. Its not my day job like you guys so i’ve just stuck to stihl chains, cost isnt really an issue to me cos i’m using my saws pretty infrequently. Daily use costs would add up for you guys so fully appreciate where your coming from. The chips look good though [emoji6][emoji106]

I find similar with my little MSA120's Stihl chain. It's cut a fair bit for me and hardly needs sharpening. I wonder what some people must do to require cheap chains and reels unless you have loads of dirty jobs or you're cutting loads of wood.

For me its the fact I dont know what I will get till I get to the job. Dirty, rotten, metal so run cheap £15 chains not £30+ for the big two. Apart from the extra tensioning they perform the same.  At £15 if its bad damage just bin it.

Do all the battery Makita rear handle saws have the idiot's chain tensioner ? If they do I don't want one.

I think you can get with or without, I went for the 36v DUC355Z which doesn’t have it. Brought on recommend off AT and have to say it’s an absolute cracker! £215 inc on Amazon. For fencing and general stop-start work it’s great. I run it on Waitley batteries. 2-4 £78[emoji106]
