Valtra N series

Anyone running n series valtra's? 

 

Being 4 cyl turbo are they still a decent thing? Used to 6 cylinder turbo. Can they be remapped or a.steinbauer chip fitted etc.

 

Obv more manoeuvrable than the t series etc. 

 

Would be for PTO winch and dragging an 11t botex trailer around.

Can't help with the N series but we're using a T174 and the steering lock on them is impressive so I wouldn't worry about maneuverability too much. For an 11ton trailer I would want 6 cylinders if you're doing a lot of haulage but depends on the hp.

 

If I remember correctly the t series uses the same engine through the range so our 174 could be changed up to 254. It might be the same with the N.

I have one

 

It's is an N-101,I havnt pulled a trailer with it but over the last 3 years it's been pretty reliable. I do mainly domestic work and has been said it's very maneuverable .

I’ve a 101 , it’s fine with an 8t trailer but struggles on big Northumbrian hills loaded ... would be fine on the flat though.
Valtra dealer said it would benefit from a remap , just some thing I’ve not got round too.

Didn't you run a 120hp 4 pot deutz? For a timber trailer till a year or so ago? How was that?

Yes we had an older one and now a new 6140 but it doesn't do much haulage, the trailer stays on the valtra all the time because it's reverse drive and we've got the controls in the cab.

 

Both the deutz pull well enough and on flat roads they do 12ton plus no problem but they do suffer on hills compared to the valtra (or the bigger deutz).

The N series tractors are great. We have a N134 which boost to 150ish. You can remap them if you desire.

 

Had the winch on it and it works very well. Pulled some heavy trailers with it and you feel it back there sometimes but it it's normally fine.

 

The thing with valtra is if you get an a you want an n. If you have a n you woild like the t.

T's are huge though in comparison to my massey 399.... the n is slightly bigger and heavier (than the 399) so still should be a sturdy bus in my eyes. I'll look into re map prices and chips etc before i do anything

Speak to John about remaps for Valtra, he has a good contact who’d happily travel to you as it’s not that far.
