Joe beat me to it, you can pull one end through and revert back to your original rope length.

 

I’ve hardly ever done this, as Huck said, a big loop of rope is not something I particularly want up a tree.

Not when you're bombing limbs off, but if you're doing that you probably don't need a triangulated system.

 

I'm talking about using it for tippy reductions/deadwoods, where if you drop something into your line it's no big deal
