Wet Gear Drying

Evening,

 

has anyone built a drying cupboard for wet/dirty gear? What sort of heaters have you used and are happy leaving them unattended overnight? The Mrs patients is starting to wear thin with trousers in the hall way in the rad.

Mine goes round the log burner

Sadly I don’t have a log burner. I want to make a cupboard in the garage but unsure in what type of heater to use.

I imagine air flow would be more important than heat

Make a little cupboard around the radiator. If she’s not happy there is no pleasing her

I had the same trouble so I had a mate who's a plumber put one of those long new style bathroom radiators in the garage  and I brought an big second hand wardrobe and just fitted it around the rad and cut some slats out for air circulation worked a treat till I got divorced and sold the house.👌😂

If your going to build a cupboard in the garage then use an oil filled rad with a loover door on it (quite safe) and vented

In the workshop I’ve got open cupboard type arrangement with an oil rad with a metal rack a foot above it for gloves and boots and a couple of coat hangers / hooks for jackets / trousers etc. Works a treat

If you want fast drying you need a dehumidifier. If you put wet stuff in a hot box the air gets humid and nothing dries. I put my stuff in a small room with one of these. It drops the room humidity to about 50-60% and things dry very quick. The tank is usually full pretty fast!
