i'm sure this has been on here loads before so shot me down!!

say ash cordwood, green, would you expect to get about 2.5 cube of loose split logs out of a ton of cord?

tell me experts as i'm clueless :D

Depends on how straight the cordwood, dia and length but say reasonably straight 1m lengths and 7 -16cm dia hardwood then something like 1.5m3 loose split logs from one m3 stack of cordwood allowing for airspaces.

Have a look in the blue book, there are some calculations in there that might take your interest.

The FC used to do them but i have a feeling its no longer available, not the cheapest of books either, last one i got about 7-8 yrs ago and about £40 ish after lending some one my other one that never came back,
