Is an MS461 a good saw

Just wondering what your experiences of the 461 are, there are still

a few new ones to be had, I like the non mt saws.

Do they balance well with the 25 inch factory bar they come with,

how do they oil that bar, how much bigger could they pull and oil.

I note the airfilter is the HD1, is this a problem over the HD2, will a HD2

swap in there, or does the mount need to be changed.

Thanks in advance

461s are a good saw, plenty of grunt, i run 2 of them one with 20" and one with 25", i would not want to run a bigger bar but some lads do but that will depend on how much time you have, i find best combination is with the 20" bar, i find with the 25" bar i am all ways catching it on the floor due to being a short arse, the weight of the 461 is quite a bit heavier than the 462 or the 500i which i think is something to consider when buying a saw,

I bought mine just before the 462 came out and initially wondered if that was a good move, but it's a different saw. The 462 is short stroke fast rev (in a way more similar to the 441 spec) whereas the 461 has quite long stroke and hence high torque, pulls 25" very happily.

Now it's had a good amount of work and loosened up I think it's a great saw.

They will pull a 30” bar buried in oak.
But as Steve says 25” is best.
Brilliant bit of kit.
Oiling is no problem.
Filter is no problem either.
Although I would reccomend an 881 instead now.
