After humming and hawing for a year or two I have decided to get a dog. I have chosen the Border Terrier as a breed as I would like one that isnt too big but is also capable of walking for a wee bit.

Im not looking for a lap dog as it can come to the workshop with me and to outdoor events I have a stand at such as Highland Games and other festivals.

I live up in Fife in Scotland but am willing to travel to buy a dog. It doesnt have to be KC registered as I am not interested in breeding or showing.

Can any one help maybe with breeder details or can recommend someone. Doesnt have to be a puppy as I am willing to take a rescue dog. I have looked online but the borders are thin on the ground these days. Any suggestions? Feel free to pass on my details to any reputable breeders

many thanks

Mike

Don’t rule out a jack russell (or any other terrier for that matter, they are all ace!).
This (in my massively biased opinion) is the single greatest creature that ever set foot on this planet!

Boss of the world, receiver of admiration from strangers, icebreaking king, humper of everything (sex irrelevant), hunter of ‘eeee-eeee’s‘ (of any denomination/colour/hairyness),happy-to-be-smuggled-into-hotels-in-a-suitcase, learned to not shit in the house within weeks but still does whatever else he wants no-matter how loud you call/shout/plead at the age of 18, able to walk/run for seemingly ever, incredible with kids (and other domesticated animals within our herd) - my best mate.

A few people I know have them and I just think its a suitable dog. Right size, right temperment, just ticks all the boxes.

I know its going to cost me more than a mongrel from the pound.

Dad used to have a border (bitch). Lovely dog, quite a character. But, it did not like other dogs, or people it didn't know. Ok once it knew you. And all it thought of was food, food, food.

Collies do need lots of exercise and are not very friendly but they are intelligent. Labs are docile but stupid. Hence the cross. She trained herself, fetches everything I shoot, will greet with great affection any burglar and always shits in the long grass so I don’t need to pick it up

long legged fox terrier. They are a wonderfull breed crafty, smart, loyal, mischavous and brave. There are not enough breeding pairs in the UK to maintain healthy bloodlines apparently.

She is my best mate.
