The batteries on your tip trailers aren’t designed for jump starting other things.

The batteries on a tip trailer are a deep cycle, slow and steady release to provide constant power for a long period, hence to tip your ram top to bottom, and best replenished using a trickle charge.

A car battery is designed to give a big release of power in a short time, hence the initial whapp to turn your engine over till it fires, then the alternator tops it back up again at a fairly quick rate.

I have fitted trickle charge solar panel to the front of both my  trailers, and it seems to keep the battery in top condition even in winter

We use Anderson couplings on any trailers that need a battery feed, it may be a bit more work running feeds to the back of a truck but its a lot less faffing about.

We do at work with bits of kit to be honest, keeps ya going and gets job done, albeit a bit slow sometimes if there is a underlying issue, but heyho! [emoji106]

I’m looking for a 8’x5’ tipper, havent really decided on a brand as such, but i’m contemplating going for the manual hydraulic setup then fitting a flowfit electric kit to run along side of it. Will just fit a switchable spool valve for in the event of the electric side going flat or giving issues away from home.

Dale kane are worth a look, bit heavier than an ifor or brian James, but really well built. The lad that does some small scale forestry extraction for me hauls his vimek on one and an ex employer ran a few of them. They seem very happy with them. My next (very overdue)3.5 ton plant trailer will probably be dk.

The electric tip Ifors all have a hand-pump backup anyway, so no need to add a second set-up.

Yeah thats the one [emoji106] i have occasional use of one at mo, but i dont like borrowing stuff on the while, always worries me if damage anything etc, not that i’m rough with anything mind, quite the opposite, i’m a bit anal with stuff if anything, dont like abusing stuff and like stuff to be clean and straight. After all, if you look after your kit then it’ll look after you!
(Hmmm...... [emoji848]i wonder if thats why the mrs sodded off last year!) ???
