DMM vs ISC for Rigging Impact Block Pulleys

The ISC 50Kn swing cheek takes everything we throw at it in most situations.

The block only ever comes out for negative rigging.

Which we do less and less.

Loads of videos show loads of negative rigging over a ‘sensitive’ area which end with a 15’ butt slapped on to it....

Got the small ISC block and dmm impact block. Both really good quality. Earlier ISC blocks weren't as well put together but nowadays they're solid.

ISC is lighter, quicker and easier to install.

Dmm has a bomber closure and WLL you'll probably never get near.

I like to think I need the dmm, but realistically two of the ISC blocks would've been fine...

My kit is pretty much the same as Martin's. I have the small (red) ISC block, a p500 tree runner and a 14mm rope. This does everything I need. I also have a swing cheek pulley for smaller bits and have recently spliced myself a short ring ring sling which is my preferred way to lower stuff down now.

Don’t quote me on this, but when I looked into it the max working load of the big ISC block was the same as the small DMM block, so I just went for the DMM. Much better build quality, better finish, bearing are smooth as. Not the sort of kit that wear out every year so may as well buy the best you can afford!

I have a weakness for expensive shiny stuff so I have plenty of Dmm stuff, ? I have rigged lots of Lelandi and macci crowns with just a Pinto rig, 14mm bull line and a Stein 1 tonne bollard. I have the small Dmm impact block, shiny! ???
