Hi all getting a stihl ms201 c anyone got one how do they perform and how is reliability 

Also how similar are they to the top handle version 

(Has anyone modded there's too)

I’d probably go for a 261 if you’re looking for a small ground saw

I have one since about four years now. Extremely reliable. For limbing, small fells, blocking down poles, excellent saw. Super lightweight and nimble, even more so with a 12" bar. One big plus that is seldom if ever mentioned is it has a pseudo 3/4 wrap front handle, which let's you cut from left to right horizontally, using the bottom of the bar. This had been extremely useful. Very low vibration, less that the top handle version in the specs.

Yep.

Didn't really like mine so got rid of it, felling on the ground could be annoying as you get fumes back in your face as the exhaust port is on the side, always seemed to struggle a bit, better off possibly with a 241?

Agreed though, I'd have a 261 or 241 if you want lighter.

Yeah fire wood small trees and de limbing gonna mode it to port cylinder and muffler etc

I like mine, ace for carving, small trees, chipper saw, coppicing, hedging etc. Nice and light and nimble. Defs a 12" bar like.

Prolly wouldn't buy one new given the price though compared to what else you can get and certainly not as an all rounder. Wouldnt really cut the mustard as your only saw.

Doesnt come out to play much, now i have battery saw though.
