Yes it can

Well OK, but on a forwarder, it's pretty hard to overgrease things, and on a centralised system, pumping in 1/2 a tube by hand every day isn't my idea of fun.

Does that not depend whether it’s a bearing or bush? I was under the impression that pins and bushes like a digger arm can be greased all you like whereas a bearing can blow out the seal by overgreasing?

I would guess so.

Everything that I grease on a day to day basis is bushes. Loads and loads of them. Same for you I'd imagine Matt.

excess grease also collects dirt which turns it into grinding paste

But daily greasing would push dirt out of the bushes surely?

A bearing specialist came to us and was horrified that we recommend rotor bearings get two or three pumps once a week. His recommendation was one pump per week max!

On pins and bushes over greasing wont make any difference, on bearings it depends if there purge or sealed, if there purge then grease until you see grease come out hence the name, over greasing sealed bearings is where to much is bad!

Pete, I'm all dewalt its a lot cheaper than it used to be and more than adequate,

I use dewalt, but a mate who used to do landrovers and transits uses a big makita with the 5ah battery.
It's a beast. Couldn't get the bolts of a big old towbar, clack clack clack job done.
I'm thinking of upgrading.
Lots of chippies I know changed to Milwaukee a few years back, saying makita and dewalt weren't what they used to be.
