I’m moving across to Makita now from Hitachi (which is also good imo) as I bought a couple of Makita electric chainsaws for a job and now have loads of their batteries. Everything I’ve got so far I’m really happy with - the quality seems to be there but it is still early days. 

This is exactly my thinking too. Have run all sorts but hitachi and Makita IMO feel the best quality and are value for money, with Makita lasting the longest of the two. Milwaukee used to be excellent but not sure it isn’t really just overpriced now and actually lesser quality than Makita.

you can actually get parts for Makita so even though initial purchase price may be slightly more they do last and with DIY use the LXT range would probably last a lifetime

Makita do a whole range u don't have to get the top $ one.

Got a Ryobi impact driver, drill, grinder, and impact wrench. All take the same batteries and you can get cheap batteries off eBay for them.

 

The impact driver is 8 plus years old has been absolutely hammered and has been faultless.

Well I think taking everything to account thats been said i'm going to give the Einhell range a bash. Just need to get that trade account opened at Wicks now

Wait until you try the 18 v impact driver,Things a beast

Well, picked up my Einhell drill today and sander. Will go back for the impact driver and a couple of things as and when I need them.
