And that is going to be a bottomless pit for a few months I bet ........

Noticed a fair bit of ash suffering from dieback on my travels this week, i can see there being a massive load of timber available all at once and lasting several years , hence prices will fall and it wont just be firewood it will be all across the board on saw logs fencing, pallet wood etc and it will be both hardwood and softwood

I doubt it will effect prices as much as you think, what with the massive shortage of material available for biomass. It will soon be bought up.

Just about to post exact same - most of it will be very processor 'unfriendly' also 95% will go to biomass and there is no way on earth prices will fall in any event.

timber prices have dropped this last 2 or 3 months and are down to where they where in feb/march 2017 all BSW mills full cronaspan full and several other smaller mills and processors full as well, i know one company i sub contract to have put all softwood harvesting on hold till further notice, to see if they can get the price to rise again ?, its been good for some time now and the bubble has to burst some time but lets hope it don,t, fingers crossed,

Lots of processor unfriendly ash sounds great for us non-pros with a chainsaw and axe.  Hope it doesn't all just go to biomass, due to volume though I bet it does.

I am amazed at that - it must be regional price fluctuation as Euroforest and Tillhill etc. further South have definitely not reflected the Ash dieback in their prices.

i mine sure the more you buy the cheaper it is but I can only fit 2m3 in my trailer

Due to Bretit uncertainty, a lot of the big sawmills have been stockpiling so there is a massive excess, saw logs have drooped as a result
