The butterfly harness in about 2001, 1st light Rock climbing style harness away from the willens t22 nappy.
Rigging bollards and brade on brade rigging ropes, more control and safer than 3 strand and wrap around the trunk in the late 90s
The hitch climber system which started the revolution away from the prussic and blakes and onto the mechanical friction devices.
Fully agree with the trouser thing mentioned, stihl knee flex, torture! Same with boots going from the stihl with the tractor tread soals or origon green boots.

Being that ive only been in the industry for around 10 years im somewhat spoiled with all the best modern devices and equipment so im struggling to comment.

For me the ppe has improved massivley even in a decade.

It’s a young man’s game, tell us what you think, don’t be intimidated by the old farts.

 

 

 

re. The trousers, after leaving college I couldn’t wait to ditch the trousers, like medieval torture devices, years later when I came back to them I found them reasonably comfortable and cool, never without them now..
