The new Hilux has a 3.5 tonne tow. I’m sure you’ve already looked in to this. But I believe they are the only 4x4 on the market now with rear diff lock. They carry a tonne so put them in the right tax bracket (for now) but there is talk of the bed having to be the same length or bigger that the cab so they are not a car, this would undoubtably put all the double cab pick ups on the wrong side of this. The whole tax pick-up thing is really becoming a bit of a pain in the arse and it’s all because loads of city office types use them to drop their kids off to school.
I think it was Coca Cola recently got done by HMRC for using VW combi vans because they are not classed as a van. How this is the case I do not know but if this is the lengths they will go to I think all 4x4’s have a pretty bleak future.

Then aren’t you’re looking at Capital Gains (with Entrepreneur’s Relief which is handy) not Income Tax? Unless I’ve missed something I’m not sure how buying stuff helps in this case.

I haven't got as far as that with discussing it with my accountant, but thanks for the heads up :D

A diff lock is an option on most still (certainly the Ranger and the Amarok, which I've looked at).

Sadly (as it's probably the most reliable) the Hilux isn't an option simply as it's the smallest cab. Too tight for me. Also, they only do the 150hp engine option now, which is rubbish.

"G" Wagen surely?

On a  461 chassis, if LHD was acceptable.

Or I know where there is a lovely LWB "G" pickup, loving built from a Wolf chassis with all new MB parts, so effectively brand new.

Not sure if it would/could be registered a Commercial though.

MTH

Wouldn't be considered a van unfortunately.
