Bit quiet this year

It has only sorta boomed for the last year or 2 so think it may be a bit quick in thinking the arse will fall out of it.

Weve sold more this year than last but it is only a sideline to us and we dont sell that much anyway.

We have done a deal with a family who have a large coal round, but Im speaking from personal experience, and you must admit, after a day working, getting soaked through its nice to come into a nice warm radiator and no ash to arse about with?

does anyone else think the arse might fall out of the log market? I think its one of the cycle things, eveyone has jumped on the band wagon, most cant remember the days of no central heating and only a couple fires in the house, and they think its quant to have an open fire?

I think you could well be right.

People buy wood burners and seem to think that wood is really cheap or free.

Once they realise how expensive it is and how much work is involved in fueling and maintaining a stove many lose interest.

I personally would not want the hassle of heating my home using an indoor stove, burning spit logs. I used to heat my old home with a would burner with back boiler, it was a lot of work and the house was always cold in a morning

I now heat my home with a big out door wood burning boiler that takes large lumps of timber up to 6' long and only needs loading ever day or so.

Yup!!!I'm hacked off by early Feb with the work that goes into running a small stove............ But on the other hand it does look nice.

As long as it is just wood ash and not coal, it's one of the best things you can put on your garden :001_cool:

Not on the tatties though:001_smile:

I find BTW if you only burn wood and no coal there's not that much ash anyway, I take out about 2 pans of ash for every cube of logs I burn. Thats only once a week on each burner really.

Don't get me wrong I love a nice log fire and have one in the living room, but I only light it if I WANT too.

Its the relentless necessity of keeping one going, if its your only source of heating, that used to get too much.
