If possible, I try to reduce by thinning, taking out tall leaders n over extended laterals as it reduces the number of wounds compared to tipping every branch. Generally lower reaction growth n Epicormic sprouts. God knows why cutting like this is even appearing now- an fell it if it's a big liability ! K

sounds good - they should have called you in, 250 a day - death or glory

So what if it isnt BS pruned. The considerate thing would be move path and low fence to dripline. In the days before compo people could die from falling tree bits without hurting the public purse

They'd better get on with the other 50 odd trees I can see in the pic.

That'll look nice when they've finished ?

Maybe it's lost limbs, rotten and knackered and it's that or fell it.

 

What would be the general consensus be then?

 

As skyhuck says I would of expected/preferred to see it hit harder back to the old pollard points.

Mate, it's an open fell site, I would have done that in a morning fr a one'r n  breakfast paid for. K
