Again, afraid this is a well recognised neurological affect. We are programmed to search for patterns and also tend not to recall the common ordinary events, only remembering the unusual thereby giving these events unwarranted importance.

If you know what I mean

You always join the slowest shop queue and every Land Rover you buy breaks down

You are not paranoid. If you grant access to your phone mic for social media etc they acknowledge key words and then use this for targeted ads. I had my daughter’s boyfriend in the woods a couple of weeks ago, letting him fell some trees. Next day he had adverts for chainsaws on his social media. Instagram I believe

random coincidence.....

The random and coincidental part of this event is that I opened Google maps within seconds of the conversation about the takeaway.  If I hadn't opened maps until tomorrow morning the relevance of the Chinese takeaway would have been lost - so maybe these voice activated keywords are also time sensitive?

Going to do some random testing with carefully chosen key words to see what happens....

I'd never even given that a second thought but it makes absolute sense now you mention it.  So if it were true, surely the advertisers would need to know about the service (and presumably pay for it). If that were the case, we'd probably all know about it because we ought to have been bombarded with requests to sign up to the subscription service.  Worth doing some more research on this!

Bugged for sure.

New Kwong Lee is a well known front for HMRC.

Funny you should mention our dear friends at the Revenue Mark, you know how highly I regard those fine chaps.

Got to the Chineses to collect the order, whipped out my card only to be told we only take cash - so had to leg it to the bank and retrieve a wad.

Mmmmmm, high turnover, cash sales only - I'm not at all sure Hector is getting as much fold from our oriental friends as he might wish for....

I got to this point in the post and thought “hello, here’s one for Jeremy Kyle”

? Was following a similar thought process...

Though by nature a rationalist and born septic,  I have to admit we might be part of a much bigger cosmic drama being played out in the background..

That was NEVER going to slip by under the radar ?

Do you have a smart TV or other device thats connected to the "internet of things" that has audio receiving equipment?

Smart TV - yes.  Maybe it's the phone, maybe it's the TV.  Will be looking at settings on all now!
