I think I ended up with the top end of that log!

New to milling and had our first go with the wide slabber/big mill from Logosol today.

We went for the largest one which uses a double ended 84in bar!

This nicely spalted Beech was cut down on Monday this week and this 2.1m section was about 7m up in the tree.

You might of seen it on the today’s job thread on Bigtreedon last post.

Previously I could not justify paying what Logosol want for the wide Slabber but Im warming to it now.

From the go I had with it today I found it easy to use in the way of setting up for the next cut and the little hand winch was great to pull the saw through evenly.

The bar has a bit of sag but I guess that’s inevitable due to the size of it.

The cuts are a tad bit rippled, but I think that could be down the the hyper skip chain and original file angle [emoji848]

Took a while to get the saw attached to the frame with the chain but once I get familiarised with it I think it could be dismantled and put together fairly quickly. Attaching the frame to the log tho was quick and easy, didn’t think to time it.
