@josharb87 I am slowly getting into climbing and treework, and getting more gear. However, safe gear (for climbing, life support) is expensive and I dont want to take risks with that. I do like to make gear and try making stuff in the workshop, so its to save some money and for the fun of building it Safety is more important then anything, so I wont take risks, thats why Im asking for experience with homemade gear.

i have done welding and fabrication in the past and happened to have the right sized rod in the workshop so knocked one up in 10 mins. i enjoy making things so was worth saving the £50

Taking out a line of baby beeches week before last, I had to take this one home. Any advice for turning it into a home-made big shot?

 

Not for professional use, mind. Probably just use it for launching dead goldfish out to sea.

Yeah, I'm so happy with where I've landed. That middle shed, now that I've put mezzanine floors in on either side of door, is bigger than some of the apartments I've lived in recently.
