Ok, born off the back of a recent post.....how many people have broken a relatively healthy double braid rigging rope in the field?

I'm not talking winching out the Land Rover with a Matbro bogged up to it's axles...but genuine 'relatively ' well thought out rigging scenarios that have pushed the calculations a smidge too far and resulted in a broken rigging rope *.

* I repeat....a healthy double braid

It can only take an unforseen edge or stub to severely damage a rope even the strongest rope under tension! Two ropes rubbing over each other (I.E. rigging rope over the lifeline!!) can do it!!

The one that sticks in my mind joe was about 5ft long and about 3-4ft”across , was probably one of the tightest grained ash I’ve felled as I estimated it around 120 before felling ,the final ring count really surprised me as it was around 230! That’s all I remember of the job and my groundy putting 5 wraps off for this lump so it would not run and snapped the rope on the snatch.
