any of the manydiy build sites can suply alloy extrusions, roller guides, guides, etc, all you are doing is building a two axis track frame, theres even sites out there show you how to do it in plywood

These Americans have obviously got unlimited cash, ... I made my sled for next to nothing... I use it on my deck ' which is the flattest area I've got ...it works great !

The cutter I use is 1 1/2" and is probably jist about as big as a normal router could cope with.... the router in the vid looks like it wasn't cheap ! probably cost as much as the saw....or more !!

Don't see the point of doing any of this until the timber is seasoned as there's a good chance it'll move during the process no matter how well it's stacked and banded. cheers.

Another router sled design. The linear bearings are from a CNC machine. Very smooth and the only friction is from the actual cutting head. You could make it as wide as the steel bar sections. Expensive but it's probably as fast as a router sled would get without a proper CNC set up. A more powerful router would make it quite effective. I use cheap 1 1/2 flat bottomed bits off Amazon and re sharpen them every now and then.Screenshot_20181124-083130.jpeg
