Just wondering if anyone uses Instagram as a form of advertising.

 

What pros and cons people have found.

 

Do people also link it with their website to get more hits

Forget Instagram, it’s saturated. Every man and his dog have a profile these days, and it’s almost impossible to stand out unless you are doing something remarkable.

 

Snapchat and those weird live-streaming sites are where the kids are these days.

It's great for looking at other people in the industry, gear, trucks and what have you! but that's about it!

I know a guy with some expensive unusual kit, gets lots of work from posting pics.

That's what I have seen when looking at Instagram, tree firms using it to network their services and skills.

 

Something that would worry me is putting your kit on show could make you more open to theft.

 

I also seen irresponsible things like posting a photo of overloading a truck before driving on the road.

 

Would really look at only posting photos of work we have done to link with a website.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, tumblr there all really just places to show what you’ve got and can do.

The public rarely know what it is or what it does and most your likes and comments will be from others in the industry or just people that like kit.

Occasionally you’ll get some work from another company needing something chipped or extracted.

It does get taken into consideration by google for assessing your website but other than that it’s really just to post what your up to because you like to. Nothing more nothing less.

Pretty much spot on.  I tell my website customers to spend less time posting on facebook and more time posting on your own blogs.  All these social media outlets are free for the most part so should be utilised, but time is short for most people, decide which ones to use and prioritise how much time you spend on each....but always put your own site first.
