Spit logs and push the prongs in in the middle. No need to push them in too hard if you have split the log. Cant see the point of just pushing them into the outside of an un-split log.

How accurate are the moisture meters? Surely you could be testing the really dry outside of the log, the wet centre and the actual moisture content of the log as a whole be completely different to both of these values? I'm used to moisture meters for grain where you take a representative sample, grind it down and test that so it is more accurate.
