 I was of course referring to our old inglenook fireplace, nicknamed nookie. 

Doesn't seem to work anymore due to low moisture in the chimney.  Perhaps it needs a good rodding!

Visiting mum and dad yesterday, dad's very poorly, cancer has left him as skin and bones so he feels the chill.  I arrived early evening to find he was feeling cold and had just climbed into bed.  Lucky I'd arrived with another car boot full of dry wood splits, and a sack of kindling.  Stove was soon burning beautifully and dad sat on the sofa beside it.  Utterly priceless moment for me.

I know it’s bad admin leaving it so late but it kind of helps with the justification for not lighting up....

 

Bumped into the Sweep recently, booked for Oct 10th. 

 

Told the boss, no fires before sweeps been - seems to be working so far!
