STIHL LAUNCHES NEW ENHANCED CORDLESS ARBORIST SAW

STIHL has launched a new cordless arborist saw that offers professionals an enhanced cutting performance through the use of a higher chain speed and a more powerful motor.

Introduced to supersede the popular MSA 160 T, the new lightweight saw boasts a 40% higher chain speed (16 m/s) and a 15% increase in engine performance, making the MSA 161 T ideal for removing deadwood, crown maintenance and light reductions.

Designed with easy handling in mind, the MSA 161 T not only has an improved response of hand guard during activation and releasing of the chain brake, but also utilises a precise cutting behaviour to ensure a clean and smooth cut. In addition, the operating system has been enhanced with a sidelock for added safety and extended interlock for comfortable use.

The cordless nature of the new saw means that the MSA 161 T is so quiet in operation that ear defenders are not required while working, keeping any disruption to an absolute minimum and ensuring the machine is the perfect choice for use in noise sensitive areas.

The new MSA 161 T is powered by STIHL’s range of 36V AP batteries. Using the recommended AP 200 battery and AP 300 charger, the new saw affords professionals an impressive run time of up to 35 minutes on a single charge. Using STIHL’s AP 300 battery, users can benefit from a 50 minute run time.

Haha! Yep but it's the business really - or us lot would go out of business ;)

Do your homework next time mate.  This has been in the pipeline for longer than a month.  A google search is always worth while!

I remember the day I picked up my new Navara, there was a disgruntled customer in the showroom as he had purchased the old model a month previous and was unaware of the new model coming out.

Who was at fault here?  Should Nissan have warned any potential customer interested in the old model and end up stuck with a load?  The new Navara was no big secret thats for sure.

Steve, do you know if a rear handle version will follow the launch of this top handle??

Just retrospectively Googled it Steve - could find nary a mention. It's not on Stihl.com, the only hits I get are the Arbtalkers post and the very briefest of mentions on the Stihl Blog from April -  like literally just a throwaway sentence. Oh well.. I was using mine today on a spindly, ivy infested, leaner removal, and it was invaluable. Sometimes it's better to buy at the end of a production cycle when the glitches have been ironed out, rather than first off the belt.
