Whats your least favourite tree to climb and why?

Whats your least favourite tree to climb and why?  We were having this discussion in the works truck the other day.


For me its Walnut.  Theres spikier and nastier trees out there but I never really trust Walnut 100% to support me.  That and they are a nightmare in the wet.

Chestnuts can be sods to prune, so can ash for that matter. 

 

I find large fruit trees a pain since there's rarely decent money on them for the time it takes to do a good job. 

 

Cant forget topper conifers they haven't been touched in years

Topped conifers are probably up there for everyone

Alongside monkey puzzle and Hawthorne. 

 

I don't actually mind conifers too much. If I got pissed off every time I have to work on conifer I'd bust a blood vessel before the week was through

A lot depends on what you are doing to the tree, reductions and TDs require different climbs, but if we’re on the subject....

 

Walnut reduction, the stuff won’t ever get to the ground, always gets hung up, plus long horizontals and not much height.
