Must admit it was a bit torturous whilst doing the job but a lot of satisfaction when you get down.

 

Cleaning the Ivy out of a couple of London Plane trees in a public park. The job had been rained off a couple of days earlier. The company owner decided to have 3 climbers in tree to try and get done before the weather changed.

 

Estimated the first tree to be about 33 metres. At least the weather held.

 

Nice to be doing something positive for the tree for a change and I think you'll agree they look better for the work carried out.

Nice work Rich, satisfying job to be sure.

I've done a fair bit of de-ivying over the years but only one big plane, not quite as tall as yours.

Remember it being a real drag of a job & glad there were two of us up it.

 

Did any of you uncover anything dodgy underneath, cavities, inclusions hazard beams etc.....?

Nice job there.I find it a bit of an ordeal too,but you jist have to get on with it.Did an ash a while ago an the bark disolouring was really bad underneath.They look so much better without it.Don't fancy groundies job dealing with it!

Justin, the job a for sl treecare based in w. kingsdown and the job in a park in dartford.

 

David, not too many defects ere discovered despite the years of slow strangulation. Did come across a large wound here the top had probably ripped out in the 87 storm. other than that heathly trees to my knowledge

turned up to do a large birch a month back, and found 7 strands of climbing rose ( is it prince Charles or something? ) underneath the ivy, just to make it a little more irritating.

we decided to have a go at giving ourselves a head start by cutting the strands and plaiting a rope round the rose and ivy and driving the landi back very slowly as struan kept watch.

we really could believe out luck when the whole trees worth of ivy and rose and general scrot came cleanly out together. No tree damage, just a beautiful birch tree left.

Job done in 1 hour, and a smug feeling to boot!
