Fuel tank sealant

What would people recommend for sealing around the top of a chipper fuel tank?

The seal has become perished and it’s been re done previously at the service shop but as it’s an ongoing issue I will keep up with it myself.

It looks like a silicone has been used before as opposed to an actual gasket.

Wandered if there was something more resistant to fuel.

You need to make a gasket out of nitrile rubber. Things like Petropatch work as well but not that suitable for gaskets.

Nitrile rubber is available in small sheets on ebay for a couple of quid.

Instant gasket/silicone turns to shite, as @muttley9050 points out your better off with nitrile gasket.

Looks like what was used to seal the tank.
It’s a Timberwolf 125 - similar tank setup as Bobs.
Will look into making a gasket to fit.

We,ve  made Gaskets  many a time out of old car or truck inner tubes .

Always worked  well .

I cut an EGR blanking plate out of a Quality Street tin to see if it worked before I bought one. Should have looked first, they only cost a fiver

 I am that but my  bodges work ..... Quality street   tin  ya cheap skate   ...nice one .     Ha  ha ha  you taught me well  .
