My only real success was a few years ago.   There is a layby on another quiet lane which had a continuous dumping problem.  The council put up a sign saying "Strictly No Dumping, Maximum Fine £20,000"

One day I discovered a heap of porno mags placed right under the sign.

Of course I needed to examine them for evidence!   However in this case the evidence was there in the form of a local man's name and address, printed on an envelope subscribing to the mag.

Called the local council officer who came out and agreed with me how important it was to look through the mags in case of other evidence!  Went away and said he would deal with it and I expected to hear nothing more.

 

However a local man was named and fined £200 for littering and it was in the local paper a couple of months later.

My only regret was that the paper never mentioned the nature of the material in the litter!

You would think so, maybe I should do some research. The bag may have been there for a few weeks now but pretty sure the sign turned up on its own unless its part of a new load! I would love to see these people dumping this stuff. There is a good vid out there taken from dash cam footage where a lady drives down a lane to find 3 guys tipping a load of crap off. When they see the cam they jump on the bonnet, thankfully she was pretty slick at reversing!

TBH I would sooner it be dumped in middle of road than over hedge or on verge as council will clean it up quicker. Some see you next Tuesday dumped a load on my lane once forcing me to drive over fields to get to work on time. When I got home Council had cleared it.

I have had sofas. armchairs, brick rubble and general waste dumped in the fields as well as a great number of cars over the years, some burnt out.  They seem to have almost solved the car problem by presumably making it worthwhile to trade in, or the owners more traceable.

  In the same way I hope the proposed deposit system on plastic works as well as it did on the old Coke bottles.  Can someone not come up with a scheme to reward recycling of garden waste and trimmings?  It must be cheaper than sending people out to clear up stuff in the middle of the road.

The problem is that if the waste is tipped on the road it is cleared by the highways department and from there budget for example Surrey highways is run by kier 

The tips are run by a different department with a different budget so there wont be any cooperation

We,ve  had similar at our yard entrance . Although it was two fridge freezers .  I simply put them on the grass verge  told the council and they picked them up later that day . We now have Cctv  which so far seems to have worked .

It may be worth checking the legalities of what they are doing.

Last year Worthing Council did exactly this. But after a few months someone found a legal issue and the conclusion was that they were NOT entitled to charge for such stuff as it was the LA's legal duty to offer dumping facilites for free. Rubble etc is now not charged for. And fly tipping has reduced.

This actually happened so well worth getting legal bods to look into it.

Facebook jack of all trades play biggest part of this see post all time who can remove me this rubbish paying no more than 20 quid when it shud cost £100 quid plus but there’s always some wot will do it for 20 quid but usually ends up on are back lane [emoji35][emoji35]
