Cheers people, He's in good spirits, So a few of my mates have took the pee abit about the electric hedge cutters

 

It was a bad one, His father had to dismantle the hedge cutter to get his fingers out before the ambulance took him away!! :scared1:

Thats nasty! I though nearly chopping the tip of my finger off with a kitchen knife last week was bad.

Poor, poor bloke! Its sickening to think of the pain he went through esp having to have them trapped in the machine.

jeez, poor guy. I caught my knee with a hedge cutter when i was 14 and 19 both times it was with old kit that needed the idler turned up so it wouldnt stall. Now i have a rule if a hand gets taken off, make sure its the throttle hand and if you fall, the hedge cutter gets rammed into the ground or hedge, never throw it away or try and save it. I know 2 guys that have lost fingers.

That poor guy, but I don't understand how he managed to do it. With my electric husky hedge trimmer, you have to pull 2 seperate levers (1 with each hand) to get the blades to move. Was there a malfunction with the machine?

i keep mine nice and sharp, they wouldn't stop at the slightest few fingers, we usually gauge the sticks it will cut by a 'thumbs width', stevie blair has a good safe method there, hope he doesn't mind if i steal a couple of ideas..
