They fall out the scabbard twice as easy, arnt nice to hold, don’t stay sharp and snap if you get them nipped in a cut and give it a little persuasion to free it. Ultimately they end up getting chucked in favour of a new silky, silky may be pricey but the best always is.

That said if your doing a few small pruning jobs a year there prob fine but a full on climber will get frustrated with it very quickly.

Just my experience and others may feel differently but I won’t be turning my back on silky after trying a cheaper alternative again any time soon.

I have known John the UK supplier for over a year, the product is apparently made to the same standard (I've heard it said in the same factory, but can't verify that) as Silky, and at only a little over half the cost have to be worth trying before commenting. Even the knackered older ones I have still go through roots ok if required. Pistol grip type handle suits some people more, some less I guess. Try one, you won't be sorry

Oh i can afford a silky mark but i refuse to pay nearly 60 quid for another zubat when the alternative is half the price.

Truthfully i dont expect the samurai to be as good as a silky but if its nearly as good then its cost effective.

If it isn't as good and the best only costs £60 then why not pay the £60?  It's hardly rocket money.
