We are working on bog at the moment with the Logbullet, and I'm testing out some new tracks on the machine. They are working well, though I still get stuck sometimes. I've had the tracks for ages, but the issue was the guides that deflect them around the guide motors. That's sorted now, so front tracks will be fitted next week too.

The ground is so soft that they'd overtop your wellies sometimes. It's mainly alder, with areas of ash and norway spruce. Thank goodness for the spruce, as it's all I can use for brash matting. Still though, you'll pass over an area that seems OK a couple of times, and then suddenly sink a foot, as the photo shows.

Good fun though. I much prefer titting around with this, and letting a driver clear my clearfell area for me with the Komatsu. Apologies for the blurred first photo:

We're changing most of our machinery over winter this year to adapt to our workload.

In essence, the very large forwarder (Komatsu 840tx), the very small forwarder (the Logbullet) and the forestry tractor (Valtra N92 with Botex and winch) are all being sold and replaced with a Vimek 610. A 5 tonne machine with a 5 tonne capacity. Low impact enough, but commercially productive.

I have a lot of first thinning to do next year :D

Good luck Jonathan!

Whats the value of the Logbullet nearly 2-3 years on?

We knocked off £10 per machine hour, compared to what we paid for it. Seemed pretty fair, especially as it has the 44bhp turbo diesel. You can only get the 24bhp N/A diesel now due to the emissions regulations.

Are you staying in the UK or moving to Europe?

Staying in the UK until May 2022. Reducing the machinery count and specialising makes the move easier.
