I just wish they were making them 20 years ago so you could get a non CR engine and no computer (and maybe affordable) version. For 46k id probs just get 3 or 4 decent work vehicles
I agree. They are good looking machines but for £46k you could have a nearly new double cab pickup and 7.5t canter tipper then a decent used tractor.

Def need a 4x4, reckon it gets used weekly, trying not to run 2 vehicles as it's a grand a year each just to insure and tax and mot etc.....

Basically nothing's perfect is it.

Maybe I'm best getting a single cab 4x4 tipper and kids can just squeeze in the foot well

Or a 4x4 single cab and a cheap family motor?

This is my Ranger Wildtrak it’s fab, very comfortable, room in the back for the children and can get around 4 cu of woodchip in box,it’s a 3ltr and pulls anything and go’s any we’re fast and smooth.

Looks good also, is the back extended beyond the original tub or the same? Ta

No it’s same..I didn’t want it looking stupid and oversized,ok no tool storage but that would have to take up more room,at the end of the day you get a vehicle what’s suits you and your needs, what you will find on here is lots of negative and suggestions which do not suit you but them..I choose a 4x4 cause of were I take most of my chip and for trekking across fields etc..and when it’s snows it comes into its own...how many transit’s got stuck or couldn’t even get to site last week? I didn’t miss a day and towing a Chipper..if you think a 4x4 will suits you for work and family you go get one,you won’t regret it,just don’t get Navarna or Mitsubishi.

How much payload can these pickups with tippers actually have left?
Can’t be much as they only have a tonne or Thereabouts without the tipping gear and sides etc. Put 2 people and tools in what’s left? 500kg?

And your point is?i think I already said it won’t suit some..

With my L200 king cab I have around 600kg payload with me (100kg) in it. Mine has a steel body but it is just dropsides not an 'arb' body. I reckon if I switch it to a new ally arb body I'd get another 100kg or so overall. Should be good for 2 cubes of chip legally although tools and a 2nd guy would eat into that.

I don't chip into mine. Its used to carry implements for my MO or for landscaping jobs in parks, allotments or cemeteries.

Personally speaking I think it's difficult to get a vehicle that is a good family vehicle as well as a decent working vehicle. The requirements are quite different.

Your overall costs are going to be higher but a double cab pickup and a transit tipper style vehicle are a good combo for a smaller outfit. Having a backup vehicle is a godsend as well.

So legally probably the same or more than a twin cab transit.......
