mystery tree in windsor

Alnus incana "Laciniata" would be my bet.

 

I've planted a few in and around Hammersmith and they're pretty nice street trees - when the little oiks leave them alone long enough.

having finally been able to get a look at this tree as it's coming into leaf it appears to be a cut leaf variety. 

 

i will get a picture of the leaf when it is fully formed in a couple of weeks.
