Hey all, i've been reading the forums for a couple of months now, but this is my first post. I completed my First Diploma last year and have now started my National Diploma this year.

Anyway for one of my assignments i have been asked to:

Compare the use and relative advantages and disadvantages of a Stihl ms260, and of a simliar sized husqvarna and jonsered. The Power source, cutting mechanism etc of each.

I have been asked to research it and as part of my research i was hoping to get a few of your opinions about which saw you like best and why, and why you dont like the other saws.

Thanks Hodgie

They both have the same power source, an engine and the same cutting mechanism, cutters.

The differences are in build quality and performance, which the two market leading makes you have selected is really very subjective, IMO.

Although Stihl is by far the better saw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have a 346 and occasionally use a 260, but only when my saw isnt about.

I prefer how the 346 feels when holding it, i cant get on with any of the smaller stihls, much prefering the huskys. Also i find the 346 a much more aggressive saw, it seems to pick up quicker and seems much quicker in the wood, but the 260 is nice for logging with as it is very smooth on the anti vibe.

I think it depends very much on what feels comfortable, as if your using it for several hours a day you dont want something that isnt right to you personally.
