NEW Husqvarna 550xp- What are your thoughts?

I bought a 550 at the beginning of the year, so far very happy with it. 'Touch wood'

just got 3 saws back from him. Superb. TBH, I'd rather get hold of a 357xp and have it rebuilt and ported than invest any money in a trashy new Husky or Stihl. My ported 020T knocks spots off any 540xp or 201tc...I'd forgotten how good chainsaws were  before the EU emissions laws spoilt the party

There is nothing to stop you from porting a new A/T  saw ........

Happy customers keep me going, glad all worked out well, I really push for 100% but it is damn difficult to achieve!

I've spent £1200 or so on them mate...and got poorly performing crap. Maybe the technology will catch up with the desire for sales one day, but I'm sorted for a few years now...with Echo and stihl and husky old rebuilds. I've said it before, but keep your eyes open for a 35cc top handle saw from the likes of Echo, which performs as well as their cs2511...it will take the ball out of Stihl and Huskys hands and make them listen to what arborists actually want.

Understood .  I still have a 2011 560 that I sent off to petemate on here for sorting a few weeks after I bought it . Still going strong . Had problems from new with a new carb and other niggles . As soon as I got it back from petemate been faultless its. Had one new primer bulb and that's it .

glad its sorted mate. When my 550xp starts its unbeatable performance wise, its just not reliable enough to take on site. I've got mates who got 'good ones' which are fine until they get heavy use on a hot day...then they are like mine. I think part of the problem is the variation in quality control in these carbs being put in saws these days...that and trying to pigeon hole 2 stroke engines into EU emissions laws.

I just cant see the point of a saw that comes with not only one crap bar but two crap bars because the manufacturers know there garbage!! 

 

Could do with changing bar on mine soon.... sugi is like 100.00 with 2 chains then you start to wonder how long the saws last as only good for x amount of hours....

 

should have kept old but good 026
